Skin Conditions



There are many skin conditions which manifest and may be actual indicators of other underlying issues in our bodies.  The skin is the largest organ of the body. Its main function is to protect the body by covering it up with all its components. The skin helps regulate body temperature and enables the sensations of touch, heat and cold.


What  does your skin say about your health?


1. Oily skin

Oily skin can be caused or worsened by your diet.


2. Dry lips

These show possible internal dehydration, low levels of iron or vitamin B deficiency.


3. Puffy skin and / or small bumps under the skin

Can be a reaction to a strong beauty product one is using.


4. Spots on cheeks

Can be caused by not cleaning foundation away properly from the skin at night hence causing the skin to be congested.


5. Horizontal lines on the forehead

May indicate a problem with the digestive system.


6. Ageing lines around the mouth.

These may be caused by smoking.


7. Pimples on the forehead

These may be symptoms of underlying internal issues like liver and stomach congestion.


8. Dark circles on eyes

May be as a result of iron deficiency.


9. Dark circles under eyes

These may signify food intolerances.


10. White spots on eyes

White spots near the outer rim of the eyes may be an indicator of chronic congestion of the lymphatic system.


11. Red / bloodshot eyes

May be a symptom of conjunctivitis or a minor eye infection.


12. Acne

Acne starts when oil and dead skin cells clog up your pores. If germs get into the pores, they can cause swelling, redness and pus. Oil based skin products and cosmetics can make it worse.


Acne around the jawline

This may signify hormonal imbalance in women – when oestrogen levels drop.


Acne on the jawline

This may result from eating lots of dairy, sugar and refined foods.


13. Periodic blisters or skin irritation around the lips or genitals

These may be caused by the herpes viruses HSV-1 and HSV-2.


14. Pronounced frown line

It may be an indicator of a liver under pressure.


15. Dry skin / inflammation on the chin

These may be a clear indication of a digestive system problem or a problem with the bowels.


16. Dark patches on skin

These may signify an illness or a side effect of medication – certainly worth speaking to your doctor about sooner than later.


17. Sores around the mouth

May indicate a deficiency of vitamin B.


18. Itchy ears

These are often a sign of an allergy or low tolerance.


19. Rash

Most are caused by simple skin irritation. However, some are a signal of underlying medical conditions.


20. Dandruff

They may be caused by eczema, seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis.


21. Warts

These are commonly caused by HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) which enters the skin and causes cells to multiply rapidly.


22. Painful rash on one side of the body

These may be caused by the chickenpox virus which results in shingles / herpes zoster.
